Frequently Asked Questions
All you need to know about ADHD coaching for adults and families
What is ADHD Coaching?
ADHD coaching is a practical, forward-focused approach that helps you understand how your brain works and develop strategies to manage everyday life more effectively. It combines self-awareness with tools, structure and accountability so you can build confidence, improve focus, and create ways of living that work for you.
How is ADHD Coaching different from therapy?
Coaching focuses on the present and future — helping you take action, build skills and move forward. Therapy often explores past experiences and emotional healing. Coaching can work alongside therapy or medication, but it is not a replacement for either.
Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?
No. Many clients are undiagnosed or exploring ADHD. Coaching can help you make sense of your experiences, whether you have a formal diagnosis or not.
What are “Water and Fire Shifts”?
This is the core Firebowl approach:
- Water Shifts focus on everyday stability — helping you with organisation, emotional regulation and creating calm, sustainable routines.
- Fire Shifts focus on your future — building confidence, understanding your strengths, and creating a life that feels aligned with who you really are.
We work on both, because real change needs stability and vision.
What happens in a coaching session?
Sessions are 60 minutes and are tailored to you. We might explore challenges you’re facing, build practical strategies, reflect on what’s working (or not), and agree clear next steps. There’s always a focus on progress, not perfection.
How often do we meet?
This depends on your needs:
- Weekly — for more intensive support
- Fortnightly — most common, for building sustainable change
- Monthly — for ongoing support and accountability
We’ll decide what works best for you.
How long is a coaching programme?
A 12 session programme lasts approxmately six months and a 6 session programme is approximately three months. Programmes can be extended by as many sessions as you like. We would work together to decide what is best for you at the time.
What kind of results can I expect?
Clients often experience:
- Greater self-understanding
- Improved focus and organisation
- Increased confidence and self-trust
- Reduced overwhelm
- More clarity and direction
Coaching is a partnership — results come from the work we do together and your commitment between sessions.
What do you expect from me as a client?
Coaching works best when you:
- Show up consistently and on time
- Are open and honest
- Take ownership of your progress
- Try things between sessions
- Communicate if something isn’t working
You don’t need to be perfect — just willing.

Can parents book support without their child attending?
Yes. We work solely with parents who want support to understand their child better. We also work with young people (over 13) and their parents in a combination of joint and individual sessions. Whatever you are struggling with we can develop a programme that supports you and your family.
What happens in a discovery call?
A discovery call is a short call (20-30 minutes) when you get a chance to share what you are looking for and ask any questions about what Firebowl could offer you.
It is an important step that ensures you are comfortable with coaching and we are sure that coaching is right for you.
Do you only meet face to face?
No. We can do face to face sessions or meet on line or a mixture of both. Both work really well for coaching.
All you need to know about Firebowl business consulting
How is Firebowl different from other providers?
Most organisations focus on “supporting” individuals once challenges arise and “supporting’ managers to deal with them. Firebowl takes a different approach — we focus on changing the environment, systems and behaviours that create those challenges in the first place. This means moving from reactive support to proactive, systemic enablement, where everyone can perform at their best from the outset.
What do you mean by “changing the environment, not the person”?
Many workplace barriers are unintentionally created by systems that weren’t designed for cognitive diversity — things like unclear expectations, communication styles, or rigid processes.
Instead of asking individuals to adapt or mask, we help organisations:
- Review how work is structured
- Improve clarity and communication
- Equip leaders to lead inclusively
- Build systems that enable different thinking styles
This creates better outcomes for everyone — not just neurodiverse employees.
Why is culture so important in neurodiversity inclusion?
Culture shapes how people experience work every day — how safe they feel, how clearly they understand expectations, and whether they can perform at their best.
Without the right culture, training alone doesn’t stick.
With the right culture, inclusion becomes natural, embedded and sustainable.
How does this improve business performance?
When organisations remove unnecessary barriers and create clarity, people perform better.
This leads to:
- Higher engagement and retention
- Improved productivity and focus
- Better decision-making and innovation
- Reduced burnout and absence
- Stronger leadership capability
Neuroinclusive organisations don’t just support people — they unlock performance.
Is this just about ADHD?
No. Our approach supports all forms of cognitive diversity — and improves the working environment for everyone.
Clear communication, well-designed systems and inclusive leadership benefit every employee, not just those with a diagnosis.
How does this support legal and compliance requirements?
Firebowl helps organisations move beyond minimum compliance by embedding inclusive practices into everyday operations.
This reduces risk while also creating a stronger, more engaged and productive workforce.
What kind of training do you offer?
Training is practical, engaging and grounded in real experience. It includes:
- Neurodiversity awareness
- Executive function and ADHD at work
- Inclusive leadership and management
- Communication and performance management
- Recruitment and workplace design
Sessions can be delivered as keynotes, workshops or full-day programmes.
Will this give managers practical tools?
Yes — this is a key focus.
Managers leave with:
- Clear guidance on supporting neurodiverse team members
- Practical tools for communication, feedback and performance
- Increased confidence in handling conversations and challenges
- A better understanding of how to lead inclusively
How do you assess our organisation’s needs?
We start with a diagnosis phase, using workshops, interviews and data to understand:
- What people actually experience
- Where the gaps are between intention and reality
- What’s getting in the way
- Where the opportunities are
This creates a clear, evidence-based starting point.
Can your programmes be tailored to our organisation?
Absolutely. Firebowl offers a flexible, “pick and mix” approach.
We co-design programmes based on your:
- Size and structure
- Sector and challenges
- Budget and priorities
Do you work with leadership teams?
Yes. Leadership is critical to cultural change.
I work with leaders to:
- Build awareness and confidence
- Strengthen communication
- Align behaviour with organisational values
- Lead inclusive, high-performing teams
Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes — many organisations choose to work with Firebowl as a strategic partner.
This can include:
- Ongoing coaching
- Follow-up training
- Culture reviews
- Support embedding long-term change
